This education program will present information on pressure injury prevention in the perioperative setting.  Risk-assessment tools will be reviewed that help to identify at risk patients.  Pressure injury prevention challenges in this setting will be discussed as well as strategies to mitigate injury.  Review of current interventions and new technologies to help reduce hospital acquired pressure injuries (HAPI).

• Discuss pressure injury etiology and the risk factors for development of pressure injuries specific to the surgical patient.
• Describe risk factors and the different risk-assessment tools available.
• Describe the various interventions being done today as well as review the new technology available to help reduce the risk of HAPIs in the perioperative setting.
