Easy-to-use, pre-saturated 10% (w/w) PVP-I (povidone iodine) swabsticks that are ideal for Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) colonized patients in the surgical unit, ICU, and other areas of the hospital.
PDI's Profend® Nasal Decolonization Kit consists of four, easy-to-use, pre-saturated PVP-I swabsticks with a unique "snap and swab" design. The Profend® Swabsticks are designed to address the nose, the primary reservoir for S. aureus - a leading surgical site infection (SSI) pathogen. A 60-second application with the Profend® Nasal Decolonization Kit kills 99.7% of S. aureus at 10 minutes and 99.9% at 12 hours. The Profend® Swabsticks are clinician-administered for 100% compliance and can be incorporated as a simple, efficient part of the ICU routine as well as an important addition to your SSI prevention strategy. PVP-I nasal decolonization is a CDC core strategy to reduce S. aureus risk in critical care and central IV catheter patients and is now also a CDC core strategy for reducing S.aureus in high-risk surgeries.
